While working and travelling as a Props Assistant on the incredible Blue Man Group North American Tour, I seized the chance to leave a mark in one of our city venues. When we arrived at the Majestic Theatre in San Antonio, Texas, I was amazed to find dozens of murals painted by different touring production as their signature on the location.
I immediately spoke with the staff about creating a Blue Man Group mural and found an unbelievably befitting corner that consisted of a blank space, for the majority of the image, as well as piping that ran above the space and curved alongside the wall, very much resembling a prominent PVC piped instrument used by the Blue Men during the performance.
After researching images, I started sketching and mixing paints for the project. I documented the 12-hour painting over the course of four days and created a time-lapse video that is posted below.
