Akumal was a sculptural adult playground fabricated for Crash My Playa Festival in Mexico. The turtle head and limbs were made using waterjet cut steel sheets that Adam and I bent into shape and welded. Designer and drafstperson Brennan recreated the turtle skin patterns with waterjet dashed lines so that each body part could be illuminated at night. The turtle shell dome was fabricated by welding 15 custom steel frames that interlocked and bolted together so people could climb all over the structure.
