Collaboration with Fiona Kiernan Molloy

As interim head of the metal shop at SFDS, I managed the fabrication of these large metal frames representing the NBC logo for the 2014 NBC Upfronts convention. I taught fellow fabricator Fiona how to MIG weld steel so she could assist me on this project. Together, we welded these 28’ tall frames in 5 days and worked with the rest of the fabrication team at SFDS to clad them in wood and stretch them with rear projection fabric. Once installed on site, the frames were illuminated in the colors of the NBC brand, and other colors corresponding to the guest speakers and content being presented.
